Mountain Lion is the first OS X release built withiCloud in mind for easy setup and integration with apps. The developer preview of Mountain Lion also introduces Gatekeeper, a revolutionary security feature that helps keep you safe from malicious software by giving you complete control over what apps are installed on your Mac. The preview release of Mountain Lion is available to Mac Developer Program members starting today. Mac users will be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac AppStore in late summer 2012.
New features of the operating system:
- Notes and Reminders
 - Center for Notification
 - Notices Center works the same way as in iOS, and run a simple wire finger right on the touchpad.
 - Twitter Sheets and information exchange
 - Most embedded applications in OS X Mountain Lion, will have the opportunity to directly exchange information with the various social networks. You can send links to Twitter from Safari, share links via email, upload photos to Flickr and more! After the success of the deep integration of Twitter in iOS 5, this function is reached and the OS X! In the Mountain Lion, you can retweet links, photos, video from Safari, iPhoto, and t.g. using the Tweet Sheet. You can also retweet from every corner of the operating system and to receive notice and mention.
 - Messages
 - Among the new features OS X 10.8 came the long-awaited client for instant messaging – Messages, which currently are under Beta
